In 2006, a dream and a vision came alive. Born out of the love of singing, we established
the West Bromwich African Caribbean Resource Centre’s Day Care Service Choir.
Led by our Community Champion, Maude Knight and initially funded via SCVO (Sandwell
Council of Voluntary Organisations) we were able to provide the Day Care Service
Users with the facilities to practice and record.
In the following years, we have performed at a number of events, conferences and
shows across Sandwell.
In 2007; we recorded our first album which is available from the Centre and are currently
working on our second album.
Performances
We enjoy performing at concerts and events in the community, both in West Bromwich
and other areas,
Though there is a cost involved in booking us for a performance, our profits go to
benefit the Service Users of our Day Care Group.
The Choir perform just about anywhere: corporate functions, conferences, schools,
clubs, weddings, christenings, funerals, churches and concert halls.
Many of the songs we sing are traditional West Indian Folk songs, but we also include
Gospel Songs and Popular Songs from around the world in our varied repertoire. The
music is arranged in 2 or 3 part harmonies for unaccompanied voices
So if you are looking for entertainment that is rich in culture, history and guaranteed
to give a second to none performance, contact us to check availability. We will be
pleased to perform
Joining the Choir
Any member of our Day Care Service User Group are welcome to join the Choir which
continues to go from strength to strength.
