About Us


Organisation Description

The West Bromwich African Caribbean Resource Centre now employs over 90 people. The main operation is located at the registered office in Thomas Street, West Bromwich, West Midlands. The organisation is one of the largest within the Sandwell Voluntary Sector. The company is a private limited company.

Quality statement

West Bromwich African Caribbean Resource Centre are committed to giving the highest quality of service provision to our users, particularly but not exclusively the African Caribbean community of Sandwell.

In order to achieve this aim, the work of the Centre will encompass the following principles to ensure that good working practices and procedures are adhered to: privacy, dignity, independence, choice, rights and fulfilment.

The standards will be appropriate to the working practices of the organisation & training of staff and carers to fulfil them.

The involvement of service users and those that purchase the service on their behalf will also ensure that standards are being met.

  • Our commitment to quality is recognised via achieving the Practical Award in Community Excellence (PACE) in 2000, the Investors in People Quality Standard (2002) and more recently winning the African Caribbean Business Federation’s Community Excellence Award (2004).
  • ALI gained grade 3 in all ALI report at first time of going through assessment in 2005.
  • MATRIX standard achieved in 2005.

The West Bromwich African Caribbean Resource Centre are committed to the principle of African Caribbean communities having full and fair access to services and provisions that enhance the quality of life and the life chances of African Caribbean communities. Key objectives are:

  • Economic Regeneration by enhancing Work and Training Opportunities
  • Regular Research, Review and Identification of Community Needs

Charity Background

To enhance the quality of life of African Caribbean community by the provision and development of specialist and generalist services in the area of health, social care, education, employment and training.

Aims

We aim to contribute to our objectives by engaging in relevant research, enhancing and encouraging community enterprise, directly providing resources support, services, monitoring and responding to changing needs and working in collaboration with organisations committed to this principle.

Beneficaries of Our Servicess
 
Our comprehensive range of services benefit large sections of the local African Caribbean population in particular older people, young people, and general adults. Particular beneficiaries include older people with disabilities, young people in need of additional education and emotional support, those at risk of unplanned pregnancy and those facing social isolation due to employment status

  • 2708 people came through our services last year not including casual one off service users.
