| HIstory
West Bromwich African Caribbean Resource Centre evolved as the direct result of collaboration between 4 small African Caribbean Voluntary Organisations in 1984.
- TOLUNKA
- ASSOCIATION for the COMMUNITY ENHANCEMENT (ACE)
- SANDWELL AND DISTRICT WEST INDIAN COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION (SADWICA)
- AFRICAN CARIBBEAN CULTURAL ORGANISATION (ACCO)
After realising that they all shared similar aims and visions for the local African Caribbean Community they jointly made an approach to Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council for a facility to be made available to cater for the variety of needs exhibiting in the local African Caribbean community. After a series of meetings with local government and central government departments, a building was acquired at Thomas Street West Bromwich. An organisational constitution was worked out and agreed and a voluntary management committee made up of 2 representatives from each founder member organisation was formed to steer the work of the organisation whilst funding for workers was obtained to carry out the vision.
