Lloyd came to England in 1985 from Kingston Jamaica having worked as a trained registered mental health nurse during his time in the Caribbean he gained a bachelor of arts degree in economics, history and sociology from the University of the West Indies.
After settling in Birmingham, Lloyd worked in various areas of mental health, holding the positions of Care Officer, Senior Care, Deputy Manager and Manager within Birmingham City Council and Rethink (formerly the National Schizophrenia Fellowship) having recently retired, he chairs the Older People and Health sub group.
Lloyd has 5 children and is grandfather to 6. He has a variety of interests including watching cricket, football, snooker playing board games and dominoes. He also has a keen interest in economic affairs and socio-political matters and Black issues.
