The Piper Alarm Service
Piper Alarm is a system, which can be used to call for help in an emergency any time
during the day or night including weekends and bank holidays. The System works around
the home and garden and can be installed for any body who feels they would benefit
from it. This can be the elderly, a person suffering from a disability, a person
feeling vulnerable because they live alone, victims of domestic violence or harassment,
a person recently discharged from hospital or anyone who wants access to help and
support around the clock 7 days a week.
Installation
To install the equipment you will need is a telephone line with a 13-amp socket close
by. The equipment consists of a pendant (worn around the neck) or wrist strap and
an alarm unit, which plugs into an existing telephone line and socket. The equipment
is connected to a Control Centre, which is manned 24 hours a day by friendly, highly
trained operatives.
Operating the Equipment
When the pendant is pressed an alarm call goes out to the Control Centre. A trained
operative answers the call and speaks to the person making the alarm call. If speaking
directly to the caller is not possible, the operative will use the confidential information
that is stored on the operating system. This information is
provided by the customer at the time of installing the equipment and includes named
emergency contacts, key holders, medical or personal circumstances and G.P. services.
This information is used to access further help as and when required.
ACRC Care and the Control Centre will always take account of the expressed wishes
of the customer, however, there may be circumstances where to do so would jeopardise
the health and safety of the customer. In such circumstances, the staff of ACRC Care
and/or the Control Centre will make it clear to the customer the actions they are
going to take and their reasons for over-ruling the customers expressed wishes.
